Rooted in Professionalism, Driven by Innovation

The ROGETI RG-1 was born from an ambitious wish list: extensive pitching range, effortless operation, compact form, lightweight construction, strong load capacity, exceptional impact resistance, precise leveling capability, modular versatility, and seamless panoramic photography. Through an elegant and intelligent design approach, this ambitious vision has been realized, transforming aspirational features into practical realities and resulting in the creation of an innovative and powerful geared head.

Simple and Intuitive Knob Layout

The RG-1 features an efficient and clear knob layout, eliminating the confusion typically associated with geared tripod heads that have multiple adjustment knobs. The symmetric structure of the RG-1 helps users immediately understand the function of each knob, resulting in a smoother shooting process.

Light Weight and Compact Design

Weighing only 1.5 lbs (680 grams) and measuring just 4 inches (100mm) tall, the RG-1 is exceptionally compact and lightweight. Despite its small footprint, its robust construction and 60mm-long bearing platform provide secure support for heavy camera setups and large lenses.

±105° Symmetrical, Large Pitch Range with No Axis Interference

The RG-1’s patented design offers a groundbreaking ±105° pitch range (210° total), surpassing the capabilities of traditional geared heads. After initial leveling adjustments using the fine-tuning geared knob, the platform remains consistently level across the entire pitch range, removing the need for repeated leveling adjustments common with traditional tripod heads. This design simplifies substantial pitch changes without forcing photographers to reverse camera orientation.

Compact and Secure for Travel

When fully tilted, the RG-1’s main bearing platform seamlessly nests into the main body, significantly reducing overall packing size. This design also improves impact resistance during transport, making the RG-1 both safer and more travel-friendly.

Durable Base Platform

Constructed from a solid block of metal, the RG-1’s base platform and pitching barrel offer outstanding stability and durability. Its extended 60mm clamp length ensures exceptional stability, making it ideal for heavy telephoto lenses and precise time-lapse photography.

Detachable Modular CAP System

The RG-1 features a detachable modular CAP system, merging the best features of both 4-D and 3-D tripod heads. While 4-D heads enable 360° panoramic captures, they often introduce adjustment interference. The RG-1 maintains independent 3-D adjustments, allowing precise XYZ control without interference. Users can select different CAP modules tailored to specific shooting scenarios.

X-Y Orthogonal Exchange Cap (CAP-X2Y)

The CAP-X2Y provides precise 90-degree shifts in camera orientation, featuring Arca-type dovetail mounts on both X and Y axes. This allows for precise, independent XYZ adjustments without dimensional conflicts. Additionally, the CAP-X2Y serves as a camera elevator when mounted parallel to the base platform.

SPN Quick-Release Base

Designed specifically for the RG-1 Geared Head, the SPN Quick-Release Base integrates dual Rogeti Dowel Pins for fast, secure mounting and dismounting from tripods or other Rogeti clamps. This exclusive compatibility ensures maximum stability and ease-of-use, simplifying your photographic workflow.

CAP-GZA Geared Panning Head (options)

The optional CAP-GZA geared panning head delivers precision-driven panoramic movement without clutch interference. Equipped with precise gearing mechanism, a Rogeti Dowel Pin and a full 360-degree scale, it ensures accurate and smooth panoramic adjustments, giving photographers complete control.

CAP-360 (options)

The RG-1’s optional panoramic CAP-360 offers robust locking strength, preventing unwanted rotation under external stress. A multi-function handle can be attached for smooth panoramic video panning, enhancing overall versatility.

Multi-function Handle S20 (options)

The optional S20 handle further expands the RG-1’s capabilities. It features detachable shaft and grip components, each equipped with standard 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch screw mounts for versatile setup options. Video Shooting: Attach to the base platform or CAP-360 to achieve smooth, controlled panning movements ideal for dynamic video recording.

Panoramic Photography and Elevation: Vertically attach the handle to the RG-1’s base platform using the recessed stud connector. This setup increases distance between the panoramic camera and tripod, reducing tripod visibility and enabling more immersive panoramic images.

Superb design, ergonomics and build - highly recommended

I don't often write reviews, but this product deserves a wider audience. The RG-1 is often compared to the better known Arca D4. But there are actually significant differences that are worth highlighting.

    1. The first thing to say is the RG-1 is nothing like the various cheap clones of the D4 that have emerged in recent years. It has its own unique design features and is beautifully built to a very high standard.

    2. The second thing to note is it's smaller and lighter than the D4. Enough that it will pair nicely with a smaller, lighter tripod, giving significant savings in terms of the total system weight. This is very welcome for walking and hiking.

    3. The ergonomics are superior to the D4 in my opinion. Where the D4 seems to have knobs and leavers all over the place, the RG-1 has just two main knobs for the primary geared axes, conveniently set off to the right, but also reversible for left hand operation. There is a single clutch for tilt, which falls perfectly under the left hand (while you right hand holds the camera grip). A separate small knob at the base of the head locks the base pan. It's extremely intuitive and (unlike the D4) you will never find yourself reaching for the wrong control. Rogeti has clearly thought long and hard about this, and it shows. The handling is superb.

    4. The unique design of the RG-1 combines a tilt axis that works in the same way as the D4 with a levelling axis that moves in an arc, similar to the way the Arca Cube works. This makes for a very stable head. But it also means when you tilt the head down (to photograph something on the ground), the levelling axis remains in the same plane. On the D4 it doesn't and you have to use the rotating panoramic head instead. Here again, I prefer the way the RG-1 works.

    5. The RG-1 is modular. This might not seem like a big deal. But actually the design is very clever. Here again, this shows the time and care Rogeti has taken when developing the RG-1. Amongst other things, you can fit different clamps to the top of the head, including a simple X-Y clamp, a rotating panoramic clamp, a geared panoramic clamp and a focus rail. You can even fit third party clamps if they have an Arca-style dovetail underneath (Really Right Stuff, amongst others, has a few options like this). You can also fit the geared panoramic clamp at the base of the head if you want geared control in every possible axis. There are even more accessories designed for architectural and video shooting. Personally, I prefer to work with just the X-Y clamp to keep the weight down, but the modular approach offers a lot of flexibility and lets the user choose their own setup. This is very different to the way Arca does things, whereby you are locked into a proprietary clamp, which can only be removed with a heat gun and doing so invalidates the warranty. Needless to say, I prefer Rogeti's approach.

Overall, the RG-1 has exceeded my expectations. It combines exceptional design, quality engineering, brilliant ergonomics and a high degree of versatility in a relatively light, compact head that is very smooth, very stable and a joy to use in the field. Last but not least, don't let the price put you off. The RG-1 is in no way a cheaper alternative to the D4. It's a premium product, superior in many ways to the D4, at a very fair price for the quality on offer. Highly recommended.

Too many USPs to list them all... again

Same title as for the RX32 tripod, because it's true. Design = genial, finish = superb. A little selection of unique selling points:
The CAP-GZA Geared Panning Head can be mounted at the bottom, at the top, or if one buys two of them, on both vertical ends. I don't know any other geared head making this possible and so far I used or tried 8 different ones. Don't waste you money on Arca "Swiss" (in fact, it should be Arca France) d4, the Rogeti is so much better.
The center markings for the QR-plates are very helpful, even if I have to open the clamp wider.
The bottom plate rotates super-smooth, fixing the head on a tripod is a quick thing to do.
The vials are more precise than the camera's electronic level.
    Super-sturdy.
The first QR plate compatible with my FLM quick release system - every other plate so far I had to mill to make it fit.
Okay, no one will discover the difference of an image made with the help of this head or another geared head. But with this one I get the job done quicker, safer and with more fun. And I simply love it's design.

    great head

just bought the RG-1 after looking for a geared head to go with my Gitzo tripod, since I had an Arca head, that is where I looked first, really happy I went with the RG-1, super solid, GREAT system and accessories, ended up buying the tripod as well, takes the place of my Gitzo giant and the Peak travel now.highly recommended!

RG-1 Geared Head M2 with Panoramic CAP & S20 Handle

I recently took delivery of this geared head. It is in my opinion beautifully engineered and well built. The controls are intuitive. My first use was to do some nightscape photography with my Nikon Z7 II. It is rock solid when mounted on my Gitzo tripod. Certainly one of the best geared heads made today. Easily compares to the ARCA SWISS D4 geared head, of which I own two, and costs a few hundred dollars less than that product.

    RG-1 Mark II

The process was a little slow at first, but I later discovered that this was due to a public holiday in China and the fact that Rogeti were about to transition to the Mark 2 version. Because of the above, it took 1 week for my order to ship, but once it shipped the head arrived within 3 days. Before, during and after the order, Rogeti have been very quick to respond via the chat function on their website.

Very happy with the product: well made, precise gearing and I like the unique module concept. Very compact for a geared head with such a wide range of adjustments.
