Simple and clear knob layout

The efficient and clear knob layout and symmetric structure of the RG-1 help users immediately understand each knob’s functions, making the whole shooting process smoother. 

Light weight and compact size

The RG-1 has a weight of only 680 grams or 1.5 pounds, and a height of 100mm or 4 inches. With such a low height and a 60mm-long bearing platform, the RG-1 can solidly carry a heavy lens and camera system. 

±105° symmetrical large-pitch angle, no interference between different axes

The RG-1’s patented configuration demonstrates a new logical order in its geometry. The pitch angle is up to an unprecedented 210°, leaving other geared tripod heads far behind.

Moreover, after complete leveling adjustment in the left/right direction with the fine-tuning geared knob, the top components will remain level in the left/right direction throughout the entire 210° range of pitch. Usually, photographers must adjust the leveling each time the pitch angle changes. This design eliminates that problem.

With the traditional asymmetrical geared head design, the only way to achieve large pitch angle changes is for the photographer to reverse the camera’s direction on the mount. With the RG-1, this kind of operation can be completely eliminated.

Safer, more compact for transportation

When the main bearing platform is tilted to the end position, its bottom and the face of the main body are in a reasonably good fit. This reduces the packing size and increases impact resistance during transportation.

Detachable modularized CAP system (optional)

A modularized CAP system combines the advantages of both a 4-D tripod head and a 3-D tripod head. The 4-D head is a three-dimensional head with a panoramic rotating platform on top. After the leveling adjustment is completed, it can be used to take 360° panoramic photos. However, it always creates an issue we call “adjustment interference/adhesion.” When the panoramic platform is not located at exactly orthogonal positions (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°), the X and Y axes on the tripod head will not be fully aligned with the X and Y axes on the camera. As a result, when the photographer wants to revise the pitching angle or the left and right level of the camera, the angle on the other direction will slightly change at the same time. Therefore, the user of such a 4-D tripod head may have to repeat the adjustment again and again, while a 3-D tripod head guarantees independent adjustment in three directions.

The RG-1 adopts the detachable modularized CAP system to retain independent three-way adjustment of the 3D tripod head so that the user can enjoy the panoramic shooting function of the 5D tripod head as well.

Users can choose CAP modules with different functions based on their needs.

Base Platform

The base platform and pitching barrel are made from a full block of metal. This robust construction and its up-to-60mm clamp length bring considerable stability to the RG-1 geared head. This is particularly important when one is using a super telephoto lens or shooting time-lapse footage.

X-Y Orthogonal Exchange Cap

The CAP-X2Y can accurately change the camera system’s direction by 90 degrees. There are arca-type dovetails on each side of the cap bottom, and the cap can be installed on both X and Y directions.

Therefore, the tripod head will always ensure accurate and independent XYZ adjustments to avoid dimensional interference.

* The CAP-X2Y could also be used as a camera elevator when installed in the same direction as the base platform.

CAP-360 

The panoramic cap has a very high locking force. After being locked, it will not rotate, even upon application of a strong external force.

For the convenience of panoramic shooting, a multi-function handle is available to be connected to the panoramic cap for video panning.

Multi-function handle S20

In addition to custom CAP designs, the RG-1 can be equipped with a multi-function handle to expand its capabilities.

 The multi-function handle shaft and handle can be separated. The two ends of the shaft are 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch standard, while the grip ends are 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch standard screw holes.

• Video shooting

When mounted to the base platform or the CA-360, it can be used as a handle for video panning.

• Panoramic photography and elevate the tripod head 

The multifunctional handle S20 may also be placed vertically to the grand platform of the RG-1 via the sunken stud connector. The handle can increase the distance between the panoramic camera and the tripod, so that the tripod will take up less space in the panoramic picture.
